The Baltic - Ukrainian Atherosclerosis Hybride Conference was successfully held on 09-10.11.2023. in Tallinn, Estonia.
Almost 600 delegates from 22 countries registered to attend the hybrid conference. Conference presenters stressed out the importance of the the dedicated work in the field of cardiovascular prevention and atherosclerosis. On-site in Tallinn participated 165 delegates from 8 countries.
The organizers of joint conference were Baltic Atherosclerosis Society and the Ukrainian Atherosclerosis Society, with support of Estonian Society of Cardiology and Ukrainian Association of Cardiology. The conference is endorsed by European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) and International Atherosclerosis Society (IAS).
The Baltic - Ukrainian Atherosclerosis Hybride Conference was supported by North Estonian Regional Hospital, East-Tallinn Hospital, Taltech and Confido Medical Centre.
On the first day of the Conference we had familial hypercholesterolemia round-table where colleagues from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania discussed the current advances and pitfalls in the management of these patients and the results from the Baltic states’ registries. On the second day of the meeting there were state-of-the-art lectures by prof. Alberico Catapano and prof. Dan Atar who were appointed, together with prof. Viigimaa, as the honorary members of the Baltic Atherosclerosis Society. During the meeting we had excellent presentations by experts in the field of coronary artery disease, precision medicine, diabetes and dyslipidemia.
All presentations of the main conference day 10.11.23 were translated into Ukrainian language.
The main subjects of the conference were:
• Personal prevention of atherosclerosis
• Diagnosis and treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia
• Biological treatment of dyslipidemia - PCSK9 inhibitors and inclisiran
• Prevention of atherosclerosis and heart failure in patients with type 2 diabetes
• Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) registries in Baltic countries
